Looking at a starlet Carjam says its 1000cc but the auction says its 1300 so that means its got a 4k rather than the original 2k if i'm correct. This means it needs to have a certification! Also alot of the ones I've seen on here have certification for exhaust and wheels does it need to have that also! Thanks

OR carjam has it wrong. Why not contact the seller and find out

Its been a while but I remeber reading that you could replace the engine with the same typ and if you dont exceed the 25% increase in power a cert was not needed

noone would be able to tell the difference from a 2k and a 4k unless they scoured the engine through the oil build up to find the stamp. its not like a 4k is a beast on performance, some starlets came out with 4ks anyway im sure

cert is required, the % power increase only applies to the oe fitted engine. not that it's likely to be thrown out for a wof as it is one of the engine options anyway. hard to say if wheels and exhaust need cert, depends on what has been fitted

The whole certification process is a complete rip,

For most things it is. Straight foward engine swaps etc should be fine as long as they are to a wof standard

You need a cert for a more than 25% engine size increase power has nothing to do with it but if noone can tell its been swapped dont tell em

No one would be the wiser.

Had a look on the lvvta website, modification that increase the power by more than 20% on your oe engine require certification. Hard to police though.

Wonder why the local certifier told me different Im going from a 50hp 1500cc to 1725 and hopefully 100+hp but should I require disc brakes which is a bolt fit I need a cert so who the hell is right!
