Going to get one so what brands with 2500-3000W do we go with!
Don't turn this into a "Go Honda" thread as they are just too high for what I need.

Don't go for 2.5 or 3kw, they are toys. You want a minimum of 5kw (the reason I say this is due to $ vs kw, so buying a bigger one is not much more expensive), and if that's not enough, you can always buy another one. Most cheap brands are OK, but make sure you can get parts for it.

Used for just lights Power tools & the likes! Or computers! Brain surgery monitoring equipment! Makes a difference. Whatever, I'd stay away from 3000RPM stuff. Any I've had shake themselves apart.

1+Don't stint on kW's. You must consider startup load as well as running load. I have a 2300 kW rated generator which has trouble starting a 1 HP (745 kW) submersible pump - I have to get a finger into the governors before thowing the switch.
