A new one is around $200. You could try your local wreckers for a second hand one.

on the report from the gararge it said there is a leak in the exhaust at rear muffler but when i asked what he mean't he said it was rotten and i would need a new pipe and maybe muffler.sorry not up with all this stuff lol

If you go to a place like Pit Stop or who ever does exhausts in your area, they can fit a muffler and the offending piece of pipe for around $200 (some places charge more, so you can get a few quotes). It's not as bad as it sounds. It will probably take less than an hour to fix.

some places make up muffler like muffler services . cost me 210$ for a muffler replacment on old toyota i onve hadbe 300 if some pipe need to be with it . What ever you do dont go to pitstop or midas, unless somone knows a good outlet of these granchise.

i dont like slaging off businesses but pitstop and midas used to be on fairgo for fixing anything but what was requested with huge bills and frudulent methoddes. So your best bet is to take it to poster 11s place who seems to have had experience with a good place, be good if others confirm his option .

had same failure on wof as OP on my subaru legacy gt wagon couple yrs back in rotorua so bought a 2nd hand big bore muffler for $50 off trademe in mint condition, picked up in Reporoa, took it back to garage and they fitted it for $45 and passed WOF, this garage was opp Pak N Save.

never had issues with midas in lower hutt city. always asked for quote and never got anything done unexpected, they've always rung me and notified me if they find something odd and showed me fault and let me decide before preceeding.

Local Pits*** used to go down the entire pipe length with a giant pair of pliers and crush the pipe and then say "its all rotten you need a complete system".What a bunch of crooks!

Just get pitstop to bolt on a cheap fart can muffler!
