Haven't heard anything. It's all quiet. Applicant had 28 days to lodge an appeal which falls due on the 13th. I suspect that's when he will lodge for the extra drama.
But my money has been paid to the Ministry of Justice before the required time and they were to attempt to pay it to him.
So if nothing after the 13th then he will no doubt find someone else to drive nuts.
Will let you know.

Shouldn't have paid him a cent. It's like admitting fault AND rewarding his appalling behavior.

Mate of mine bought an RX2 from a genuine old guy. guarantee no rust. Checked it over big time.got it back from the South Island.stripped it back and found it riddled with bog and metal filler. ripped off.

A, who says the old guy did it. B, it didn't have any rust, as it was fixed with filler and bog. More on track, the OP deserves a medal for his patience!

Mate checked it over big time but found no bog! Most cars that are loaded with bog are pretty obvious.

Since you rightly won't be posting his user name on here, I will have to ask prospective buyers of my car the question, "So, are you interested in selling your oldMG!" and hope for a puzzled response. But the first one that says yes.

I'm a fan of horror movies and have seen a lot over the years but this thread is without doubt the scariest thing i have EVER read. Serial killers wearing hockey masks and butchering high school kids would run from this nut job.
Full credit to you on the way you handled yourself and i hope karma pays him a visit in the near future.

Ok update time.have been away for a bit.
As expected I received a notification from the Ministry of Justice to say that my friend has applied for a re hearing.another 14 pages of info to read through where he mentions Hannibal Lecture and Robin Hood in the odd paragraph. Much of which I might add is odd.
I had ten days to make comment on the application and choose not to. It basically boils down to the fact that if the referee has made an error in law then there is grounds for a re hearing.
In one of his statements he says that the referee incorrectly used the Sale of Goods Act instead of the Contract remedies act. I have no idea which of those should have applied. I am just hoping that with the tribunals knowledge and history with this individual that they would have made sure that they didn't get it wrong.
So from yesterday the wheels began turning and apparently they either grant the appeal or set a time to have a hearing about the appeal.
So I continue to wait.
More to follow no doubt.

He is not happy with your $1000 and wants more.

Nzkiwi-Given he has apealed You should have been returned your $1000 I guess the question really is did the Adjudicator USE the wrong piece of legislation or simply use the wrong name when discussing matters! Also -diddn't the ":applicant" actually themselves apply for resolution under the CGA! If so the whole case should have been thrown out anyway. To clarify the CGA applies (in the case of motor vehicles) ONLY to registered motor vehicle traders. The contract remedies act isin effectthe law between private individuals. -BUT if he wants to use that act and follows through with it he has dug himself a really big hole. To the point where my advice would be -withdraw the $1000 offer and make it 100% will simply abide by the decision made by the adjudicatornot a penny more . Also make it clear you will be claiming costs. You must be worth $500 a day to "the company" plus the expenses you have incurred.

This time, do not offer to pay anything and instead (as mentioned) ask for costs for expenses.

And the grand was supposed to be to settle the disagreement, looks like no settlement, so I'd be wanting the grand back too!
