I know that the Mitsi GDI engines are absolute crap, but wondering about the Toyota D4 engines! Looking at a Vista Ardeo as an everyday car, are these okay! Roughly what fuel economy driving at speed limit! (Automatic model). Anything in particular to look for! Cheers

That's a bit too low for my old body to climb into.lol.and doubt they'd accept 5k. But if you run these D4 engines on 98 and use injector cleaner a few times a year do they still give problems! Surely Toyota must be better than stinking Mitsubishi! Would be 99% open road driving. Mainly like them as they are a little "taller", easier to get into. Other option would be perhaps a Honda CRV.

Those Vista's come in 1.8 as well, buy that one. Don't get a D4.

Have a 98 D4 Toyota, have been told to avoid any pre 2001. We are having missing issues, runs fine apart from that. Unless the car is really cheap don't get it if it is an early D4.

all the d4 engines are pretty bad, I would avoid them all, no better than mitsi gdi's
