If it's got radials - forget flappers. Coz that's what they'll do until they flap to bits. They work well with cross-ply's.

My mate went through a set of flappers on his corvette. Once he hit 65mph they were gone!

Are you implying that they'll be alright on the Victor!
There we go again - the old double post

There's a guy her in Ak who has a machine which grinds, or roughs-up a very shallow groove in the sidewall then fills it with a type of latex(!) paint. He did my Cadillac about 5-6 years ago & they are only just starting to yellow & will need redoing(painting) again soon. It was only about $100 for all four wheels & I dont think the price has gone up much since then. If you like I'll post his ph. no. tomorrow when I find it.

Hey dr - seeing as you're contemplating re-doing them, give one a wipe with wax & grease remover and see if that cleans them up. I use that on my genuine ones, and it works well. Just have to be careful not to smudge white onto black or visa-versa.
They looked good on my Mk I joanie

I might try that, thanks. But I think it might be the silicone from the tires bleeding through the paint. I know he mentioned the possibility of that happening.

I think if your cars got curves and a bit of chrome whitewalls can work, and given that vauxhall is cursed with the GM gene and looks a lot like a holden, and by extension a tri-five Chev, it should look pretty good.

Hey its all about personal taste (or lack of). Ive hadwhite wallson somecars iloved, and remembertyrebacking over the ones on a jag before I evendrove it home as I hated themso much. Jiffs the one toclean them up with BTW.

I bought a car with tyres done like that. Later I was told it may fail a WOF because the tyres are damaged by the grinding.

The "grinding" is so fine it really only keys the surface of the tyreso the paint can adhere. You wouldnt know it had been scuffed unless you were told.

You where given the wrong information seen it done to plenty of cars had no problems getting wofs

Its no ordinary pommy car as the F Series Victor was designed by Pontiac and followed the lines of lots of Americian styled cars of the late 50's,early 60's.I understand that in the UK the F Series Victor was a bit over the top for them as compared to what they were used to,when the FB model came out it was more accepted over there.I dont actually think of my Victor being a pommy car as such more of a Americian Baby Chev Bel Air.

Mk 2 Zephyrs and Zodiacs looked great with narrow white walls. I have seen numerous Wolseley 6/99 and 6/10 cars with narrow band white walls on em from new, back in the day, really set them off particularly ones in dark blue ,dark green or even in black. I can even recall Holden EH Premiers coming out with narrow band white walls when brand new and also similar year Ford Falcon Futura's and Squire wagons (the ones with the imitation wood grain side paneling) and Chrysler Valiant Regal models. Early-mid 1960's I'm talking

Dont get out much eh Zodiacs and Crestas had whitewalls in the advertising shots of the day.

White walls kinda suit the early Victor they are after all a mini 57 Buick cribbed from Opel
We followed a shinyJowett Javelin recently. It had white-wall crossplys. The car looked gorgeous.

Agree totally. Notice its a left hook jag, yanks arent exactly known for their Subtlety. White walls, fuzzy dice and nodding dogs.
