Does the new system of RUC s still allow 500 ks over before CVIU ticket.
Or is it now you are out of ks and here is your ticket!.
And a heads up Christchurch has a few extra CVIU in town and surrounds at the moment.

I think the tolerance is wiped now.

The least they would do you for would be failure to display.

Yep been getting harder more & more the last couple of years.
Domestic owners sometimes used to be able to slip through if it was ONLY ruc's & even then only by a couple of hundred kms

Commercial . NOPE,. not on ya nelly

OK, here's the deal. There is no longer an offence for being less than 500kms overrun on RUC. The first offence starts at 501km. Soooo that in a round a bout way means, yes there is still a 500km tolerance. Before the new RUC legislation that kicked in 1st Aug 2012 you could be issued an offence notice for 1km over but police used a 500km tolerance as there was a defence in law if you took it to court.

And.light vehicle RUC infringement now only $200 no matter how far you are over run over 500km. No longer the 3x purchase price to the 1000kms.
Heavy vehicles 501-1000kms $300, 1001-2500kms $600, 2501-5000kms $1000 and over 5000kms $1500.
All reduced in Aug to keep the wheels of industry moving even tho some will still call an infringement fee reduction "revenue gathering"
