The Pulsar is chain driven, not belt:)
Regularly maintained, they are a good, basic wee car.
I would be finding a local mechanic or inspection servcie to have a look on your behalf if possible.

if you want a automatic i would get a corolla.
i got exactly that car above in manual outside my shop from a naigbour. i had to reset the computer once as it would no longer run with check engine light said cam angle sender code. reset and now runs. it also has had suspected headgasket problem for unknowen reason, but still goes but is hardly used, its here now for a service and the brakes smell aperantly will have to see if they stick due to not enough usage.
automatic on nissan dont have a good name when past 200,000km
the one outside is a manual transmission.
the one i got outside is a hatchback pulsar 1.6

If possible have a chat to the mechanic who has worked on the car. They should have a good idea of it's condition. Hopefully they will be honest with you.

harry353, Dec 1, 9:16am
Keep asking if this one doesn't work for you. It can be a long process. And someone on here will help.

the one i posted is from the other thread of the poster. If you dont check that corolla and buy it if its not a dud then you cant be helped .
my onewith the smaller engine same code runs mint and has 312,0000km on it i drive 3 times to town and back on 20 bux petrol thats 180km plus on 20 smackers. dont know if the 1,6 runs as cheap however. but the one i got is 3 speed automatic on top.
thats my one

That looks to me to be an honest little car.
Its got the bigger 1600cc engine which gives a slight power advantage over the normal 1500cc one.
They have a cam chain not a cambelt so thats something else not to worry about.
The only concern is they say mechanically sound. Does this imply the body and interior are trashed or are they just emphasizing the positive.Having dual air bags is a bonus too

I'll stick my head out and say it's a good looking car. Plenty here have taken a punt and bought unseen, ended up with good cars. For !600 I would give it a punt, gives you extra money if it needs anything. It should have heaps of milage left in it yet. Good luck (o:

Op I just noticed a small something-The rev counter has blown its circuit.--See where the needle is sitting--fairly common fault

a.woodrow, Dec 1, 12:07pm
Nissan looks good, for $1600 I would take it unseen as described, but if you wanted peace of mind pick a qtown garage out of the phonebook and see if they will take it there if you pay.

Good cars those nissans, if you get it change the radiator water with new anticorrosion and get the trans and motor serviced then should last a long time with regular services.

Hi butterfly, you would need to get it checked out, I notice they are advertising it as NZ new, but it is an import. Not that that is a bad thing, just always suspect when people aren't telling the truth.
Also can't see much from photos either.
Always be cheeky with your offer, the are moving to Aus, so maybe on a hurry (o:

a.woodrow, Dec 2, 7:27pm
Yep, see they have pretty average feedback too, I would take what they say with a grain of salt

butterfly2041, Dec 2, 7:34pm
ok well my local garage said they will look over a car for me with verbal report fro 30-40 dollars so out of the two ill take this one to the garage if I like it, I am loosing my vehicle at the end of this week so if this ones no good Ill see if the other corolla is still for sale, thanks dont feel alone buying a car now :)

butterfly2041, Dec 2, 7:36pm
how did you see it eas an import! should I ask them why they said this!

butterfly2041, Dec 2, 7:53pm
omg.thier feedbacks sooo bad lol

jmma, Dec 2, 8:01pm
Number plates and a carjam check (o: Makes it a better selling point, but an import is OK, we only have about 2 million of them on our roads LOL
Don't be to put of by there feedback, just don't listen to much they say, get it checked and listen to the mechanic more (o:
