a couple of times I have been travelling a little to fast. Seen a cop car coming and slammed on the anchors obviously fast enough to avoid copping a ticket as on more than one occassion I have had the cop drive past wagging his finger at me. So does that mean they have to lock on to you in some way to get a reading. Or the minute you come up on their radar / camera as traveling too fast, do they then have the ability to ticket you!

I think cameras get you as soon as the radar hits you but in a car there is a delay when it locks your speed, but there again its your word over the cops and they can ticket you at the speed they see and dont have to prove it, just like they can estimate your speed if you fly by them.

Then why do they waggle their finger at you obviously saying "I know you were speeding, slow down!" Im betting Im not the only one this has happend too. If you are correct in what you say, why not just ticket people instead of the ole finger wag!

If you're speeding and their radar has a clear line on you to pick up your speed, then it sounds an alarm to allow them to lock in your confirmed speed - they can show you this when you're pulled over.
If you slam on your brakes you may have dropped your speed before they had a chance to lock it in, or they simply see the front of your car dip suddenly indicating heavy braking - also a no no, unless you have good reason.

If you look closer on the road in front of you, opposite the camera is a "diamond" shape in the road. This is the Pad thats activites the camera if you are speeding !
And there also needs to be a camera in the box for it to work too !
