a couple of months back the front of our yard was dug up for "urgent" water pipe replacements for a week or so.The moment the water guys drove off the same looking trucks pulled up. This time it was the sewerage guys -and ALL FOUR sides of the outside of the yard were dug up.-yep one bit was exacxtly the same as the water guys. It all settled down and the grass has groown back mostly. But NOW the SAMEbit of grass is being dug up because the guys from the telco are putting in new phone lines. I mean this has to be local body buracracy at its best

Yup I used to do traffic lights. The number of times we dug up week old concrete was unbeleivable.

I have always thought that the beaurocrats organise the digging up things schedule, in that they write letters for everyone in the right order and then send them out in reverse.

I rekon every time someone has to dig across a road, they should have to chuck a 6inch pipe in as well. Thenthe next utiity companies can shove their cables/pipes through easyas!

Too hard that. But a utility tunnel made of prefab concrete makes sense. That way the road would NEVER need to be dug up again.

the problem is that the pipes and ducts are never where the plans(if any) say they are. once we were told to go crazy with a digger to dig a 2 cubic meter hole and there was nothing remotely close that we could hit. i was sceptical.sure enough we uncovered a 300mm gas main about 1500mm down. nice one lads.

Kaz no please dont encourage them They will only put utility tunnels where they DONT need them . Like if you go up the new upper harbour bridge that 1st over bridge has about 12 spare ducts under it to " Future Proof " the right hand side as you go toward the shore . .- Problem . Theres a harbour on that side not a lot to build on .
