Thank goodness for.

having a secondary fan belt.
I serviced my Courier diesel today and when I took off the cover plate underneath to drain the oil I found a chewed up fan belt.
I'm not sure how long its been broken. So will replace the lot while I'm at it.
I would hate to think of the damage that could have been done.

Yep, very lucky, a broken belt usually takes out the good belt as well. Would've been a $2000 job had you cooked it.

you have to replace the pair anyway, they're only the same size at purchase

and check them again in a fortnight, they'll need nipping up again - the rough surfaces will have worn down - loose belts last about a 1/4 of the time properly tensioned belts do

Yes skin, I've ordered the pair, and replacing cam and the power steering belts as well while I'm at it, they're just about due anyway.
