Hi, I own a mk2 ford escort with a 1600 x-flow engine with a weber 32 36 carb and its idling at about 1800 RPM I have tried to turn it down but anything lower than 1800 RPM it just wont idle. any suggestions on how i can lower the RPM. Thanks.

Checked the mixture screw!
I had a similar problem, idle mix kept unscrewing itself, I'd adjust the mix and reset the throttle stop, get it idling nice, and half an hour's driving later and I'd be having to keep the revs up at the lights to stop it dieing, screw the mixture back in. rinse, repeat.
Bunged a cut down pencil eraser in the hole to stop it unscrewing, problem solved.

check to make sure you have the correct float levelthese carbys are so easy to work on heaps of info on the net and yes give it a full carb rebuild kits ex supercheap $50 I just did one for my MK1 Capri
