Hi Guys - anyone know 1st hand the fuel consumption of an EVO VII GT-A (The auto version). Numbers seem to vary far and wide. And by consumption i mean day to day driving in town not! racing type driving. Online figures would suggest around the 11 L/100k - so on a full tank of 48-50L i would expect to see around 400+ Km. It has been suggested to me that consumption can be around the 16-17 L/100K - so full tank of gas would barely get you 300Km << bit low!

I know someone who used to have one, it was cheaper to run a v8 commodore. The consumption was shocking. It was replaced with a v8 commodore.
I've had experience with both the GT-A and the Airtrek Turbo which essentially share the same underpinnings. I can say that whilst it is possible to get 11L/100km it's closer to 14, of course I can only speak for myself but I guess if Driven sensibly its not an issue, driven hard it will suck the juice. It's just how cars of that nature roll. They're a fun car so you can't have your cake and eat it too.

TBH, the 16L/100km would be fairly on the money for in town, expect around 11L/100km open road. The small tank hobbles the range by a fair margin. Panelvanner.
yes with purely around town driving expect 14-16L/100kms. I struggle to get more than 450kms of sedate open road driving out of 55L in my VR-4 with is very similar in specs. Around town is approx 350-400kms. You don't buy an Evo for good fuel economy, and if you are buying an Evo you certainly don't buy an automatic version only - apart from the Evo X with the SST transmission.

Arguable. I do enjoy diving manual but I have to factor in what I do mostly which is drving in traffic. It is a compromise. And consumption is pretty relevant considering the trend in fuel prices. If I plant my foot down yeah sure I know what is going to happen, I'm just curious as what happens when I going to the local dairy to get a bottle of milk. Generally I think my question is answered. I can sort of expect consumption on par with my old 3.5 diamanté! With a much smaller tank!

constant stop start driving and driving short trips is not the best for an Evo engine. Yes they are a bit more efficient than the older turbo Mitsubishis with higher compression ratio engines however the GTA has a smaller spool happy turbo and it will happily squirt more juice in to get the thing moving off the line. It wont be light either, the GT-A is about 1500kgs - the same as a Diamante! I would say the Diamante would have more usable torque especially on the motorway and therefore would use less fuel. The Evo would be much much more fun to drive though.

Diamontes, Veradas etc are awful to drive ok in a straight line but I made the misrake of touring the Dandenong ranges in one it sucked gas, even an evo should be preferable at least those go around corners ok
