Two litre NZ new should be ok. It's not the dreaded GDI. The mileage is low and people go crazy over low mileage. I'd try it out at $6800.00

Would have to be in the high 4K range, a dealer would be wanting 6 minimum.

I sold a 2000 Galant GLXi 2.0L 5spd sedan done 140,000kms for $4600 about 18 months ago. I would say $4500-5500 would be its ideal value. The 2.0L engine is reliable but not overly powerful - still a good solid unit.

Great car, I have bought my father-in-laws one 5 years ago, he purchased it NZ new. Now done 150,000kms and been totally troublefree. No GDI nonsense and its tiptronic but apparently the NZ new version had a beefed up transmission. Very comfortable car to travel in, Only compaint I have is its a bit thirsty round town, economical on a trip thou. Manual version should be better on gas, I reckon 7 grand, for the posters galant, mine still goes fine, but I'dbe willing to pay that if given the opportunity to buy it.

Because a large automatic Diamante is the same vehicle as the mid-sized manual Galant. yeah right.

Exactly, not comparing apples with apples. The Diamante and Magna sized cars have always had terrible resale compared to Lancer and Galant, especially north of 150k on the clock. They get to the point where they're not even wanted as cheap tow or family cars like a coonadore would be, by anybody. the small and midsized cars are very different. A good well maintained (I assume) low km NZ Galant is well worth buying, it will have loads of life left in it yet. They tend to get forgotten in the stampede to get a Caldina or Atenza by buyers which usually works to your advantage!
