Is it best to go for a newer car with high ks or a older car with lower ks!
Such as a 2008 Holden with 180kms, or 2003 with 90km!
I have always had small late model cars with very low kms, but wondering if kms are so important with the larger motors.
My husband is not concernd about kms, but wondering what others think. . .

I would be looking at the overall package not just the k's. A 5 year younger car to me would certainly attract my attention. If it looked twice as used as the 90k one I would walk away though.

Both are pretty much same price, and tidy.
Only difference is the 2003 is V8, and 2008 is V6

dh is a mechanic which does make a difference but we got a cheap 2010 ranger because it has done 200k. All open road running by a medical company that travelled Auckland to Hamilton each day, Would rather that than a jap import that has done far less kms but crawled along in traffic jams each day and never had a good run. But we are aware that some people will look twice at the kms when we sell it but it was well priced accordingly and we are happy

Also reps cars are generally leased and have been regulary serviced as part of that contract

More important is it's service life, where it has been serviced, how often, and how up to date everything has been kept.
Somethings are consumables that wear over time (Gear box, engine internals etc) but in reality, if everything is well serviced and looked after, on most cars they can last longer then you would bother to keep the car.

Ive never been to Japan (I'd love to though), but I do know that not all of Japan's roads are gridlocked city streets. They have lots of open roads too.

Long open rd trips are whats best, you will find less wear on the interion, brakes and clutch and engine. And if it was a company that owned it it will more than likely have been serviced

Just buy the V8, it won't spit a cam chain and it makes manly noises.

millerz -I genuinely feel its a question only the person concerned can answer. A sales rep doing 1000km a week would be best with lower k's whereas an old lady only driveing to the shope is better with later model.

yea those are two different cars, v8,or v6, both should do 300,000km easy without problems, depends what your looking for, the v8 will probably hold its price a bit more as seen.

Higher kms is an indication of increased fairwear and tearon everything. Cars actually age too.lol

K's can be pretty irrelevant some times. It all depends on who has owned it and how it has been treated. Newer cars should have better components that would last longer. Try to avoid cars that have done over 200,000. And when searching on Trademe always select the lowest k's filter and then go from there until you reach a limit (like 200)
