Any doorslammers there!

splinter67, Jan 3, 4:45am
They where at taupo today and they where awesome

cuda.340, Jan 3, 11:20pm
Trevor Smiths Statesman Doorslammer will be there, he burns the slicks pretty hard. i'm told he's lined up with the CBR RX rotary thing-a-me.

The Thrill Performance Skyline will be there representing the V8 team this year. Forecast looks really good, hoping for some good numbers on saturday.

cuda.340, Jan 5, 4:33am
weather is picking up, should be a nice day out tommorrow

hotrodtodd1, Jan 5, 5:21am
All the best to the V8 team. We are relying on you!

chevcamaro, Jan 5, 8:02am
yes, plus one

chris.f, Jan 5, 8:09am
Apparently Trevor Smith's doorslammer will be a no show unfortunately. Will be happy to be proved wrong.

kwkbrk, Jan 5, 8:36am
Robbie has posted elsewhere also that the RIPS Stagea has had crank trigger problems on the dyno and he unfortunately won`t be able to attend either .

cuda.340, Jan 5, 9:51am

hotrodtodd1, Jan 5, 9:54pm
Weathers good, track is excellent, and the track operations always go smoothly at Fram.

Will be a great days racing today.

appleman71, Jan 6, 6:28am
Who won! couldnt get there today myself

hotrodtodd1, Jan 6, 10:16am
Am told it was the V8s 31-17

cuda.340, Jan 6, 9:17pm
the sun was hot, the racing was hotter & it was good fun. the imports had 5 major failures in the first round of qualifying which seriously dragged out the day. as Hotrodtodd said, the V8's won but this was mostly due to the carnage from the import side. the day was long with racing not finishing til after 6pm(good thing this wasn't at Taupo) Barry Rensfords Blue "westie Warrior" Challenger won the wheelstand comp. all in all a great day with a healthy crowd. just a shame about the carnage.

kiwisparky, Jan 7, 1:17am
didnt look like many there from various pics ive seen .

cuda.340, Jan 7, 1:35am
there was loads of spectators at the start of the day, that hot sun & the track clean ups n broken cars took there toll on how long the spectators could hold up. guessing 3500-4000 spectators. the hill was even populated for a while.

savanna71, Jan 7, 2:45am
I have video being uploaded to youtube as we speak, will post a link when its done

kwkbrk, Jan 7, 3:31am
Pain the arse oil downs. I sympathise with you guys having to clean up 4 or 5 in a row in the first round.
Nice to see it all ended up sweet.

chevcamaro, Jan 7, 3:52am

Thanks for the vid savanna71. I can't understand how people like the sound of the egg beater RX's (no offence ;-).Undeniably fast though - the 323 Wagon was a bit different too.Have to admit that the imports can lay down some pretty respectable times.Still for me half of the fun is in the sound, where I'd have the V8 any day.Didn't the imports win last year! I think the first time this was run they had lots of breakages too.Is this because they are more highly stressed to make the high HP out of a much smaller engine or what!

splinter67, Jan 7, 8:15pm
awesome video savanna71 and cuda there was a bigger crowd at taupo for qualifying just shows drag racing fans like v8s over brap braps looks like it was a great day
