is it only me that this annoys the carp out of! PITA trying to search for cheapish cars etc. I sometimes feel like CW'ing every one each time o come across it

bellky, Dec 27, 11:58am
Maybe those 0 dollar ones aren't the cheapies. methinks the seller is waiting for genuine interest in the vehicle and a start down the negotiation path.

You could always send an email asking for a ballpark figure though I guess.

Most people tend to ignore them as the perception is they are going to be asking to much. I think most people believe if their price was realistic they would put it on their add.
For a buyer its good that most ignore these cars. If you can be bothered with the hassle of chasing them up, there may be a bargain there due to the lack of interest in the 0 $ listings.

Offer them their asking price.

Better still, tell them you accept their asking price, and when can you collect the vehicle.

franc123, Dec 27, 12:26pm
Not worth bothering with, they're all dreamers who want too much for their crap and their ads get instantly bypassed. There is no excuse for not knowing what an asking, or starting price as the case may be, should be for most common cars for sale. People have access to more information than ever before about what stuff is worth to a buyer, including from insurance companies in the form of free online quotes. Not good enough.

Not worth bothering with, they're all dreamers who want too much for their below to average condition crap and their ads get instantly bypassed. No point in getting bogged down in negotiations either. There is no excuse for not knowing what an asking, or starting price as the case may be, should be for most common cars for sale or auction. People have access to more information than ever before about what stuff is worth to a buyer, including from insurance companies in the form of free online quotes. Not good enough.

I have CWed some of these. I don't think any of them are going to become best buddies with me somehow. They wern't very happy at all!

kazbanz, Dec 27, 2:53pm
Ive actually spoken to Trade me about this subject. TM staff say that definitely it is false advertising and asked for all 0.00 and $1.00 sale price vehicles be reported to them.

jokerboss, Dec 27, 5:22pm
hah so not just me being pedantic then!

trogedon, Dec 27, 6:23pm
It doesn't take much effort to zoom up to where the bidding starts at $1.

xpfairmont, Dec 27, 8:51pm
Just tells me that seller is a plonker and do not bother. I also hate parts ad's that state "this auction is for one wheel nut". To lazy to list what they have and start an action.

carclan, Dec 28, 2:35am
I have been tempted to ring and ask who the check for $0.00 is to writen out to and when I can pick up the vehicle. I don't even bother looking at them now.

chebry, Dec 28, 7:02am
Just like car yards if you aholes cant be bothered putting up prices I dont bother to shop. Those 0.00 auctions should be banned as false advertising

supernova2, Dec 28, 7:39am
I'm just amazed that TM can't find them themselves - oh that's right too hard!

Surely TM could alter their software so that you can't set a price of 0 - oh that's right too hard!

I also have CW'd a few.

supernova2, Dec 28, 7:41am
I tried that once with a house that was advertised for $300 instead of $300,000.Seller got right shi*y to say the least - I had lots of fun, had him on the phone for over an hour.

bellky, Dec 28, 7:43am
I would have hung up on you.

the-lada-dude, Dec 28, 7:51am
anybody would have hung up on you !.in fact if you rearrange that sentence slightly, .the result would appeal to most of us here !

bellky, Dec 28, 8:01am
Go ladadud.

bellky, Dec 28, 8:03am
You must have been short of things to do.

bellky, Dec 28, 8:05am
Nah I wouldn't have been phoning, phoney. Come on Kamikaze.

the-lada-dude, Dec 28, 8:42am

bellky, Dec 28, 9:32am
Blohard Kamikaze.

trogedon, Dec 28, 3:05pm
I phoned a guy about his BMW R1100 S that was listed (Trade and Exchange for $7 (or 6) k when most were going for $17 k. Needless to say I didn't end up owning a cheap Beemer motorbike.

morrisjvan, Dec 29, 1:43pm
They piss me off too, especially when they put the price they want in the add ! PUT IT IN THE PRICE BOX, YOU MUPPETS !

kazbanz, Dec 29, 1:45pm
ohh but they might actually have to pay an extra $10 for the advert
