Trueno issue.

Hey lads, my 1991 Toyota Trueno ae101 4age 20v silvertop is giving me grief. Car's done 210ks. Has recently developed an intermittent miss, especially at low revs. Have to ride the clutch quite hard sometimes to get her going. Once you're above 3-4000rpm its alright. Started a while ago so i replaced the plugs (but not leads) and it drove beautifully. Now issuing is starting again(2months roughly since plug change). Not so good on clutch fuel and damn near dangerous pulling out of busy intersections haha. Was thinking possible overfuelling! But not a mechanic.
Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.

The Engine ECU play up onthese cars(think it was made by Mitsubishi)and gives grief, open up the ECU and check for leaking componments.

Have just taken my mates car for a drive and noticed that his' a lot easier to get off the line (compared to when my car was running good) i.e minimum clutch ride needed and just a bit more 'go' down low. My car also burns a bit of oil (quite common i hear with 4ages) and smokes a little sometimes at higher revs. I realise it's getting old and tired but am currently a student so would like to fix this on the cheap if poss. Should I get someone to put a timing light on it!

borrow parts from ur mates car one at a time to see if one of the parts solve the problem! ecu, leads etc

His is a 4afe unfortunately. Any visual signs that leads need to be replaced! $220 for leads. happy to replace if it'll definitely rectify problem but have a gut feeling it won't be that easy. Car's averaging 420-450kms per 40ltr tank.

if you have a multimeter you could check resistance of the leads if they are all similar restisance they should be ok! google may have specs on that, could be fuel filter, distributor or timing

Check the resistance of the leads with an ohmeter
