Self moderation 2013

Reality is it's about time we ALL sorted it out and this topic section became more self regulated.

I.E. we have ONE thread in which we take on board who is here
and should be here
and who is here and upsetting everyone.
Self moderation 2013

Beyond doubt in the current situation it would have led to a show of hands
In My HONEST Opinion.

people like skin1235.NZTOOLS.unideck.-
-
.zephyrheaven.jmma.superno-
-
va.intrade.gadget3.unbe-
-
atablle.sr2.nathanmac.awoo-
-
drow.quater.jasongroves.-
-
phillipweston.kazbanz.vtet-
-
net.

And probably at least 20 or 30 others have been here long enough
And in 2013 we need to be able to self regulate to a point.

johnf_456
i have not included you-however a recent post by you has impressed me.
In a thread re honda tapett settings you provided tapett settings
rather than just a +1

Your opinion please.

ralphdog1, Dec 29, 9:22pm
I'd would be with you if you can explain to me how the tossa's would be removed.

a.woodrow, Dec 29, 9:27pm
So how do you propose to self regulate!

jmma, Dec 29, 9:29pm
I guess we just all need to stop beating each other up, get back to informing and helping other members.
Ignore or vote off post that are flaming or taunting.
A bit of fun is OK but not dishing it out because you dont agree.
Bring back fish (melissa!)

a.woodrow, Dec 29, 9:39pm
Well at the end of the day, I post here because I enjoy this board, I learn new things, have a good laugh at the more interesting threads, and try from time to time to add a little from my own experience. The past couple of months particularly I've noticed things have been going downhill, we have newbies come on asking for advice and getting flamed and some posters being heckled for having a different point of view, jazzpianoma for one. It's pretty sad when someone offers an opinion only to be torn apart by a half dozen posters with nothing worthwhile to add to the thread. The personal attacks are getting a bit beyond the pale, people wouldn't have the stones to say to someones face what they would happily say on here.
It's easy to hide behind a keyboard but I propose that people only post what they would say to a person standing in front of them, and I think we would be all better for it

snoopy221, Dec 29, 9:42pm
Bring back fish (melissa!)

THAT.is PRESCISELY what IS needed

now we can not bring back fish
it IS trademe's forum we are merely peasants

However we have ONE vote for fish

That alludes to a *wrongful dismissal*

30 to 50 votes and trademe might listen to THEIR own people- on the floor.

Maybe! they HAVE done it before.
zeph was banned and reinstated

In a NUTSHELL

This whole scenario started with kazbanz being on the scene of a fatal accident.
IT HAPPENS.

And a *nameless* memberBeyond Any DoubtDID make comments in threads about that incident.

kazbanz IS an accepted poster here- if his personal life has led him to post with feeling i feel
WE AS A COMMUNITY ACCEPT THAT

He has helped a LOT as a lot of us has.
This thread needs INPUT FROM ALL.

2013
Let's ALL try and make it a better board.

And YES we all KNOW johnf_456

But why not accept his voice of injustice unilaterally!
After all a post of his i WILL find- and if! someone takes offence and i get banned for reposting/qouting it so be it.

And if that scenario happens THEN kick it in to play-

RIGHT!
WRONG!
Group vote by post.

That Simple.

theram1, Dec 29, 9:44pm
A+

snoopy221, Dec 29, 9:47pm
NOW at least he came straight out and wrote the RIGHT thing

Many of us may think it-

But we need to feel safe enough to *put it to the vote*

Sure i'd like to post *thanks john*- However
well-Thank YOU johnf_456

And believe me THAT is what this is all about

snoopy221, Dec 29, 9:53pm
johnf_456
It IS entirely up to you if you accept that sometimes at the end of the day someone might just post.
*thanks john*
Doesn't mean it was meant for anyone else
and it doesn't mean it was disrespect- or name calling

Somehow i think a few of us here have been here LONG enough and have helped others with KNOWLEDGE we possess from EXPERIENCE

Given freely from the heart.
We are not ALL bad people.

jmma, Dec 29, 9:54pm
Agree with andrew, there are certain posters getting pick on for one reason or another. Yes jazz has a lot to offer, miss his loooonnnnggg posts (o:
But he has a couple of posters that only come out when he does and its so obvious, they need to stop.
Intrade is another,I feel he offers alot, but some posters need to pull there heads in with their comments towards him.
A couple of posters from Napier also have a lot to offer, you know who you are, but just have gone a bit wayward of late.
I came to this board as a mechanic who had not spannered for years, but reading this board gave me the convidence to pick them up again, all be itjust to help the family out. But now enjoying it and I know if I get stuck, Help is here.
My two cents worth (o:

Thanks! You have some very good ideas going tonight snoopy221, keep them coming.

The way I see it is, its better for the community to regulate the boards and guide people along. No one deserves bans.

ralphdog1, Dec 29, 9:57pm
The fundamental issue is that those that are able to "self moderate" as you put it already do, as far as my memory serves I can not recall any of the above named doing anything other than taking the piss, something I regard as a good ole Kiwi pastime.
The problem is those that say stuff that would have no teeth if they did it is a room of people, the "Keyboard Warrior" types, how do we deal to them in a far and just manner!

johnf_456, Dec 29, 10:01pm
Sometimes alot of the taking the mickey is taken tooo far, sure its fine in small doses but when goes to the max its not pleasant. And often its not always easy to pick up on sarcasm over written communication, as a result not everyone picks up on it, self included.

jmma, Dec 29, 10:04pm
ralphdog1 I would say, Lets ignore or vote their post off. That is what TM have armed us with.

snoopy221, Dec 29, 10:10pm
If! trademe get a complaint about any postings of mine in THAT thread.

There IS a timeframe
AGAIN as a collective we would look at a complaint as VICTIMISATION.

Due to the timeframe.

Again In MY HONEST opinion.
Thing is do ya all agree with me!

clark20, Dec 29, 10:12pm
I feel there are some people that need to get banned, as they just on here to cause trouble. But we lost good ones like paps, however I did not know what happened in General to get the ban. Unfortunately the fighting does put off genuine contributors. (like Socram etc)

Just checked, next month it will be 10 years, how time flies when your having fun.

Edit: Makes we wonder if we get "brownie" points with TM. I agree they should look at the whole contribution a person makes, not just one bad post that gets voted. Maybe we need a plus vote as well to offset the -negative vote.

paps

pappariccardo

socram still posts doesn't he!
There are SO MANY GOOD people here

And a LOT are unhappy with the sandpit /cesspit it has become.

jmma, Dec 29, 10:19pm
Banning is not the answer, letting them know we won't tolerate the in fighting and picking on certain posters would be better.
I do believe that even the trouble makers would have something to offer, if they pulled their heads in and thought about it.

clark20, Dec 29, 10:25pm
Socram does, but made it known it was going to be less because of the fighting. What happened to Matt! Most of the time we do not know what happened to banned writers, but TM does.

johnf_456, Dec 29, 10:29pm
Agreed, it's not the answer. The way some were gloating a member got banned was pathetic in yesterdays threads about .

snoopy221, Dec 29, 10:30pm
I can still recall about 5 or 6 years ago when gadgit used to post under his wife's account for_an angel
And someone lost teir stereo code for a toyota.
well
they posted their rego
he posted their stereo code

(Incidentally he was the one [As in qualified Toyota Service Technician at the end of Toyota 088 phone]on the toyota 0800 number that day.)
however one COULD say it breached protocol.\

Vote therin would be the thing- after all he is a very valuable poster here.

Thanks! You have some very good ideas going tonight snoopy221, keep them coming.

The way some were gloating a member got banned

paraphrasing here

AGAIN-

in HERE in THIS thread you can either +1
or-1

Personally i think it basically showed us we had a resident BULLY that had offended a LOT of people.

AGAIN i HAVE to +1 johnf_456.
AND-

STEP BACK AND LOOK

And .
look at MORE self regulation

jmma, Dec 29, 10:39pm
A few months ago, someones wife came on here and said hubby was stuck with his new car somewhere, he had travelled from Wgtn to Auckland to pick it up. Yeah somewhere around Hamilton, I think it was, it broke down.
A poster from this board in Hamilton went out and got him going again. Cant remember the posters name, damn good bloke though.
Thats what this board should be about, HELP HELP and more Help
