I have a garmin, and use the free maps from NZ open GPS project.I can update my map weekly, if I wish, at no cost.

Hope I just got a bad one. But Auckland was well beyond it's capabilities. Even Rotorua was a struggle for it.

I also recieved a Navman for Xmas. I just plugged it in to lighter in car, went straight off. The sound I find is not great quality, not as clear as I have heard others work.

I married a wonderful woman who can read maps so we never get lost, the extra plus is she is a bloody good cook and keeps me warm at night, I bet your gps can't do that.

Got one for xmas. open it up, no house charger. Sold seperately and its needed to charge it initialy. so if you buy one, get a charger also.

Yes, he's right. You'll never need a house charger. Just connect to computer using supplied USB cable. Navman - good choice, got one when I got sick of Garmin getting lost ! Never a problem with Navman.

do not buy house charger.you can buy a cigarette lighter dble adapter, it has a usb output, so you can use cable that you use on computer for updates, I do this with my garmin
