you said it only fires every second turn. = 4 stroke

Cam wear in a two stroke is more indicative of an out of tunecam chain tensioner nodule. You can often retune them by careful removal of material from the exhaust finning until you get the correct tone. Hissing oil suggests you are using high RPM oil rather than low compression oil.Is your rev limiter set at 25000 or 30000rpm!

if you pull the barell off and fill holes in the side of it you will fix your missing issiue

You only want a cam lobe profile on a rotary valve train- cams on a reciprocating engine MUST be completely round (although slightly squared is OK)

That's rediculous - how will all the sparks get out when they're done!

No rev limiter, therefore infinite I suppose. My neighbor suggested the frobmobdulator could need repacking!

So what would cause the terrible egg shaped wear then! It makes the valves poke in and out like crazy so it cant be good for them.

Rubbish, The cam lobe needs to be concave and slightly wavey to improve fueling

If you did you would ask more specific Questions and maybe make sense

Only if using the high lift spark plug. I thought we had established this already!

Leaded fuel.

If you read some of the other answers you will see that it all makes sense.

So they're still sneaking lead into our fuel are they! This must be similar to that crappy diesel that someone on here goes on about.

Surprised ya neighboredidn't suggest 2 of em.

While carrying out all this other work make sure you install a new powerband, you don't want to have it all back together then snap your powerband. One of these should do the trick http://tinyurl.com/b657z22

have had a little longer to think about your problem, and decided that you need a 1/4 speed camshaft

Cheers for the advice. I was going to see if I could get away with a couple of bits cut from an old car inner tube. As long as they're nice and tight I can't see that there'll be any problem.
40wav,
Jan 4, 11:38am
How will that make any difference when I've made the cam lobes all round for max performance! It might reduce wear I suppose, so could be worth it.

Just had a look on Yahoo for one but all I could find was a 4/16 speed. Damn!

put the rotor from a rotary in instead of the piston and some flashlube.

Wont it miss 2 out of 3 then!
OR- only 1 out of 3! so might improve it a bit.

I've just had a think about your problem some more. I recon you just need to adjust/tighten the valve clearances. As you haven't posted the make of two stroke engine I can't give you the exact technical data/specs but 130NM should be sufficient to ensure the valves will never poke out again.

I have a friend who has a patent on a square piston engine with the rod bolted to the piston as well. I wonder if he can help with the wear problem!Yes, I have seen it running, it could be the answer.
