well actually I did ! Short of paying 1500 bucks for some shipped over from OZ I drew a blank. Hence why I asked on here. LAST RESORT !

Do you already have a manifold! Or do you need the whole setup!

Thank you Dunedin_moto Have currently got manifold and a set of very knackered carbs (think they're Solex but could be wrong). Runs great for about 3 days then have to have carbs re-set. Told Weber would be a better option. Coincidentally, the car is in DUNEDIN :-)

Mainly we are very helpful in motoring (o:

Yeah most likely Solex. Not ideal anyway if youre looking for performance and my understanding is that they arent that 'servicable' if that makes sense:) Mikuni or Weber would be the go. philspeed can most likely offer an adaptor plate for you existing mainfold so you can use a couple of 40mm of your choice. Who have you had re-setting them in the been time! Been to see Roy MacDonald!

All very useful. Thanks, just sorting out a few other bits and pieces but will respond to the above very shortly. Thanks heaps.

Meh 18RG-U with the old lazy cams -or have they been ground! Either way mains pumps and airs need to go up a tad- and linkages need a lookie see. Post some pics of ya linkage/balance setup and where ya throttle comes in and where ya springs are. And what's been done to the head/cams! And what mains/airs and pumps are ya runnin! and what's ya pump stroke set to! Also points! or electronic ignition! And the BIG kicker probably is if points . there are 2 condensors- one is too low in microfarads and it could be ya problemo.
snoopy221,

But yeah ya can fang 2 40 mill dellorts on it.

Can't remember the chaps name, it's my son's car. Think garage is called central city or city central mechanical or something of that sort. Engine was rebuilt by Infomotive in Rotorua using an 18R, 18RG and 18RGEU motors, as well as many new and reconditioned parts from all over the country, and some parts he made himself. Motor itself is better than new, let down only by the carbs - which ran beautifully for about 2 weeks, now only lasting 2-3 days!

Every nut, bolt, washer, spring, bearing, shaft, rod, shell, valve, sleeve, ring, head, arse and elbow has been done. 18 months and 5 grands worth. The rest of what you're asking is a foreign language to me. I'm not a mechanic.

Oh, and the head also had a COMPLETE rebuild.

Roy MacDonald In Kaikorai Valley is a Weber dealer and his mechanics are top notch with old school stuff.

Thank you all, I've sent link to my son so he can join in and fill in the bits I don't know. But I suspect he's working right now.
