Never had a problem with ebay, more trouble with TM sellers.

What sort of parts! New or used! If its over $400 you will have to pay gst.

if you import its 380$ anything above the total value of this money including shipping will cost you 20% extra in taxes and clearance fees of the total ammount to be paid befor it gets released from auckland customs . bit of a pain but other places like switzerland have it set to 60 swiss franks. so you purchase a tshirt for 28 euro and shipping is another 15 lets say it makes it 61 franks. You get hit with anotherbill of a furter 40 swiss franks for import tax and there processing fee. so your t-shirt is now over 100 bux . was on a swiss fairgo programm once .
now here is the joke.
you go across the border and pick it up for 28 euro in germany free delivered to po box near the border then you just pay 28 bux as you can bring over the border mutch higher value your self. not the case for uss but its also 700$ personal items in the airport border , plus i never got told i had to pay taxes on anything i had in my suitcases Got me brand new delonghi coffe machine for 450$ nz that sell at hardly normal for 1700$ so i did keep the advertisment from the newspaper in case the officer asked me to proof its value, but no problem.

Its not that bad, nor hard to do, i've imported a pile of stuff over the years for my triumphs.

If you're buying from a "shop" they'll take care of the shipping, its normally not that expensive either. i think my last order was about $400 for shipping (included some body panels, and heavy suspension pieces)

about 6 years ago I imported $1200 worth of goods from the UK and paid $155 duty and charges.
this was through DHL who my supplier specified.
Look carefully at what you are importing and also the regulations. Speak to a customs agent who is used to dealing with car parts and such.

Uhm correct me if I'm wrong but the value on used parts gets determined by what the seller writes on the package slip at this low amount nobody will ask you for a receipt. It would cost them more if they had to chase that up than the taxes they could collect. So all you need to tell the seller to keep the value under nz 400. Of course the downside to this is that the goods will only be insured to the amount written on the package but I never had issues so far.

+1

I have had more trouble and delays on trademe than ebay too. I cannot understand why.

The problem with the UK is they (the seller) gets ripped by the freight companies (or Royal Mail), which ends up on your bill of course. Still way cheaper than buying here though.
