balsa wood model aircraft, years ago we used a clear glue that smelt like dope( no not that one ! )surely there is a more modern glue that is commonly used, what aboutpva !

But if it's balsa you're gluing I expect most any wood glue would do if you can hold it in place, PVA being the most common, or an aliphatic resin based carpenters glue.
Even cyanoacrylate (superglue) could do the trick.
