Hi i live in greymouth does anyone know a cheap place that does transponder keys in christchurch ! as it is a pain onley having 1 key.I have a spare key that will unlock the car but thats it,its a 2003 mitzi lancer
I can recommend better security (google, or look up phone book). He's a mobile locksmith I used the other week, and was nice and did a good job.

If you are concerned about price take the key apart glue transponder to steering column and use a normal key

Thats what i did to mine, got a couple of keys copied ( $10 each) and taped the original transponder key inside the plastic around the steering wheel . You cannot see it and the only problem is if the battery goes flat in the key,i have a uniden alarm and use the remotes from that to unlock the centrel locking problem solved
