Why all the hate for giz

stockyz, Jan 26, 9:38am
There have been some hateful comments i social media and msg boards about him since the announcement that he was driving for tenko.People are comparing him to sbw .Im not a lawyer or anything, but i would have thought that when sbr ceased to exist,so did any contracts and any no driving for another team clause.Shane never said he was leaving v8s for good. Also why have ross and jimmy stayed so quiet throughout this!

I'm no hater but from my recollection he said he was leaving V8's for personal reasons and that he had no plans to rejoin then to turn around 2-3 months later and sign up under a different colour seems abit odd. So you would understand some cronies would get up and arms about it.

I wouldn't say he was SBW bad , he didn't walk out on a contract. lol

Have forgotten SBWs shortened time playing with the Bulldogs!
Also Giz is allowed to change his mind, Ive worked for a large company I swore I wouldnt work for again & have turned down offers to work for them since BUT times change & lately there has been an offer Im seriously considering.

You misread what I say , that's what I was referring to.

Yeah I understand that but some might not , you know how the blues and reds get.

He wasn't happy where he was so he quit. I'd say it more than likely has something to do with Erebus racing taking over from Stone Brothers. Anyone who is a fan should be happy that he's still going to be racing and better still his new team has cars built by 888!

The hate is driven in part by peoples belief that a sports person should remain loyal to the brand they (as supporters) follow.
That in itself is misguided given that SVG was not going to be driving a Ford this year even if he did remain at SBR/Erebus.
Then the anti Holden brigade step in and start waffling on about contractual obligations but in truth SBR released him and now do not exists.
None of us know exactly what was in his contract but it is fair to assume there would have been an out clause in the event of the team changing hands. Initial media reports suggested a joint SBR/Erebus team for this year however given the complete takeover by Erebus I would imagine he would have been able to terminate the contract without too many restrictions.

His reasons! Let's face it, he is a young man from NZ who missed much of his youth during his early years in V8SC. With SBR he was under pressure but nowhere near what would be expected with Erebus. The current move to Tekno makes sense and although I am anything BUT a Holden supporter I am smart enough to see that what he drives will be unlikely to erase the fact that he is a serious talent who is exciting to watch and even more so in adverse conditions.
Personally I wish him well and also Erebus. Hoping for an exciting year of racing.

Well said, I was pretty gutted when he announced he was quitting but I knew he would be back in 2014 if not sooner. Had to laugh at the people who thought he was quitting to concentrate on D1NZ drifting. I think it will be an amazing year of racing, and this new control chassis has come at the perfect time after last years races were all won by the top 2 teams. Should be a more even playing field this year.

The question is what's happening with the tv rights! I'm still hoping that sky tv gets it so we can watch the races live for once.

It must be a weird feeling with all the v8 drivers coming to your pit bay at the grand final in Sydney and have them sign their names with farewell messages then you return just as every other driver is going to for the next season.
