Can anyone help a clueless woman?

I have a 2005 Toyota Vitz with 73,000km. It is an automatic 990cc with a 3 cylinder engine (rare apparently!) It has a rough idle when the engine is hot. Started doing this in November, didn't prior. Two mechanics have taken a look and said it isn't right, but have failed to find the problem. They've so far done something with the throttle body, oxygen sensor, air fuel ratio sensor and I've just paid over $100 to have them change the spark plugs (to no avail) then another $100 to have an auto-electrician fiddle and fix nothing. The car shakes like it is about to take off like a rocket whenever I stop at traffic lights, worse whenever the radio/air con/wipers/etc are in use. Ideas!

First suggestion. Get a new mechanic. Second suggestion. Get the throttle body cleaned out and the air flow meter cleaned up.
If your problem goes away then you've cracked it.If it seems to go away for awhile then gets worse again Your AFM needs replacing.
-Tjis is assuming all the basics have been covered.Clean air filter, coills all good etc

Might pay to get battery and charge rate checked.

I had a similar issue, turned out to be the pcv valve

Are you sure its a 3 cyclinder!,or does it feel like one.Has the car has regular oil chages! sometimes the VVTI system can get blocked up and cause rough idle if oil changes are neglected.
