Cant get key out?

shouls, Feb 7, 6:54pm
Any one that might be able to give me some idea Please!
I cant get the key out of the ignition. It wont take that extra turn that sets it free and you can lock your car etc. It is Toyota Prado. Older model.
Many thanks in advance.

See if you can spray around the key into the barrel with some CRC/WD40.

common issue with the prado. Your going to need to remove the colum covers and on the barrel theres a pin you push in which releases the barrel from the lock unit. Then take it to the lock smith.

+1, might even need foot on the brake pedal or something weird like that too. Hope it works out for you :)

As above if its in park. Its likely ignition barrel has failed common on many a toyota. Barrel or possibly lock assy will need to be removed and repaired job for a lock smith

The common issue is the small 25mm x 25mm box on the side of the ign barrel. It is the locking solinoid that locks the barrel when not in park, alot of the time the pin just gets stuck and a tap with a hammer will get it going again.
Unscrew this off the side of the barrel and you will be able to turn the key to lock and remove it. It's only held on by two screws. Once you remove the covers round the key barrel you will see what I mean. Done a ship load of them on Surf and Prados
