I have a Stock Special Edition Orange & Black K7 Gixxer 1000 with twin yoshi cyclone slip-on's that came with the bike when i brought it, anybody out there no what th hp is from the rear wheel! Also they say that the K7/8's are quicker than the newer models, is this true!
Cheers in advance.

The English translation of Suzuki is "Smith".
Get a Honda.

The over all differences in top speed and accelleration between the two will minimal if even noticeable by you. However more modern chassie dynamics will be better than the later model therefore giving it an advantage.
However in reality it will come down to rider. A good rider on a poor bike will out ride a bad rider on a good bike.
As for top speed.yea bit of the ol"my fish was that big" senario.
And unless you happen to be a very skilled rider it will be unlikely you will ride that kind of bike to its full potenial anyway But its all good fun at the end of the day.

Depends on the rider more than the bike.

.telling a suzuki rider to get a honda is like telling a lion tamer to work with kittens.honda=blandest of the bland, buy one if your suzuki frightens you

Mon I have to disagree with you. Back in 07 I was lucky enough to get to do a 3 way back to back comparison between the K7 the honda 1000 and the Yamaha R1 at Pukie track.
The second I hopped on the thou (Id never thrown a leg over one before) I felt comfortable and within 2 laps was doing comfortable 1.06's (6 seconds off race pace but borrowed road trim bike I wasn't gonn hussle)
coming out of the hairpin I was laying down little strips of rubber -the bike inspired that kind of confidence.
Basicly it was like being with an old freind who let me do anything I wanted to do
On the other hand the Honda felt edgier and definitely needed to be treated with a lot more respect. Yes I was still doing 1.06's but I was working a lot harder
