Horrified to hear a police investigator state that ALL drivers must be carrying cell phones these days - unless they are living in outer Mongolia and he was concerned that he couldn't find one in a wreck.
Just for the record, I don't normally carry one either and there are many of us that don't.Why!Because contrary to popular belief, they are NOT essential.

Don't all under 25 year olds die instantly if they don't have one with them at all times!

Its when you don't have a cellphone you need like when you forget the jacket or umbrella. Or need a fire extinguisher. You just never know when you may need it, you may even need it for someone else whos had a crash and badly injured.

I didnt see the programme (mostly because it's crap, continually re-caping like were all morons) but I'd imagine a cell phone on either the driver or passengers would be a great help in quickly identifying any victims & contacting next of kin. Most women carry a bag when they go out so it stands to reason there will be a phone somewhere.

Just cause you have a cellphone doesn't mean it's much help, mine doesn't get reception half the places I go off the beaten track and on the beaten track someone else is going to have one. Especially no help if you're dead as well. Kind of a moot point.

Horrified. He was embarking down a path of investigation based on a false assumption. If he had said that most drivers have a cellphone, no problem because most of course do.This wasn't a thread about the pros and cons of cell phones, just that he was so convinced that there must be one.
The lady involved in the serious accident, I think, still had it with her but that wasn't the point.

My cellphone is locked with a code, it's useless to anyone but me.

LOL, if the police want acess to your phone they will get it one way or the other. Ive sat and watched police go through the process of information gathering on a suspect during a armed offender incident. Very very interesting.

The couple times I have caught a glimpse of it they have bandied about all sorts of absurd conclusions. Its just another PR/propaganda program, its aimed at non-thinkers and provides cheap programming for the network in return for furthering the Police agenda.
The disturbing thing is we are probably witnessing the best of the best investigators doing everything by the book, I would worry about how bad it really is if they appear that thick on screen.
smac,

You don't seriously think that do you! These coppa/customs/fisheries programs are PR and/or entertainment, nothing more.
supernova2,
Feb 13, 6:46pm
That may be but in most cases the stars of those programmes come across as morons!
smac,
Feb 13, 7:23pm
Maybe they're just really talented at coming across as peers to their audience.

I think I should be offended but its too complicated for me to decide
