Wow , thats a lot of cash . But a chance to own some history. Holdenshomologation BSto run a pure bred race car against production cars.

Rare for sure.

Wonder what it cost to transplant a 7.0litre, upgrade brakes, rip out rear seats etc in a standard Monaro!

$100k!

itsbutters, Mar 12, 12:47pm
The hell! It's not even a classic.

smac, Mar 12, 1:32pm
I just can't get my head around that. Just thinking what else you could do with that money.they go on about it being a true race car.irrelevant if it never sees the track.

What the hell. Give me a big block classic any day.

wrong2, Mar 12, 5:04pm
thats about all it took for HRT to build that car (initial car purchase cost not included)

wrong2, Mar 12, 5:06pm
the EFIJY only took about $ 150K (of parts)IIRC

(total corvette running gear)

Still only a bloody Commodore!

Welcome to the world of "well they don't make them anymore" Australian cars. Even though they were only ever based on humdrum cheaply designed , built and sold cars with the build quality and interior of a toddler's lego house , they now command the same price or more as any world-renowned classic car.

skiff1, Mar 14, 5:20pm
really! I'm pretty sure the article says only two were built and Holden still own the other one!

wrong2, Mar 14, 5:23pm
^ pretty sure hes just meaning a race car monaro, because you are quite correct some of the HSV cars are actually quite nice

& this particular car is nowhere near close to berlina standards is it

id much rather have a CV8 thana VN groupA SS

.

Bonney might have bought one of the three similar spec cars that were built, and won bathurst in 2003.

purple666, Mar 14, 6:13pm
I am not a great Ford fan, or Holden for that mater, but for that money I would rather a GT-HO if I was given the choice.

gunhand, Mar 14, 6:16pm
Wonder what it will be worth in 40 years time, and theres only ever been two of them. HOs are common in comparrison.

theram1, Mar 14, 6:35pm
The mind boggles at the thought of value in 40 years time. Might be money well spent.

brokebloke1, Mar 15, 6:37pm
+1 here rather any aussie muscle car built before 1974, after 74 the cars just got boring
