Is this wofable

inkapuka, Mar 12, 1:20pm
Suck ive noticed this now think my wheel alignment is a tad off and has been for a while

nightboss, Mar 12, 1:21pm
Personal opinion is NO.

curlcrown, Mar 12, 1:23pm
Hard to say from the photograph but looks like probably not.

sas777, Mar 12, 1:26pm
The question should really be "is this dangerous"

inkapuka, Mar 12, 1:26pm
Its s 1yr old tyre snd its probably been like that since i got the car

inkapuka, Mar 12, 1:28pm
Yeah its dodgy driving it now . i know what its like would alignment make it safer

motor10, Mar 12, 1:32pm
I'd agree.Looks like its nearly down to wires showing on inside

intrade, Mar 12, 1:40pm
check if there is no wire sticking out on the worn part or canvas showing it will be wofable as the wof say 70 or 75% of the tyre has to be minimum 1.6 mm or 4mm for winter tyres thread . I was thinking i neednew tyres on my corolla but it passed with a warninglooked not quite as bad as yours but similar.

Get em on the rear and a alignment done soonest. if they pass.
In europe wof test the first thing they do is drive over a friction plate to tell if the wheel alignment is out , nex is exhaust emission test then on to shaker for shockabsorbers. then on hoist for the hammer for rust under the car then steering force plate moving one tyre leftand other in the other direction the same time to see if there is play, then outside on the hill to see if the handbrake is holding, and then on roadtest foa any other noises or problems. 3 things wrong and your on your marry way to pay another full fee and bring the car back when its up to wof standard. You do get 3 years wof after you passed however

14. A tyre, other than a winter tyre (Note 3), fitted to a vehicle capable of exceeding 30km/h, does not have a tread pattern depth (Technical bulletin 7) of at least 1.5mm (excluding any tie-bar or tread-depth indicator strip) around the whole circumference of the tyre:

a) within all the principal grooves that normally contain moulded tread depth indicators, or

b) if the tyre does not normally have moulded tread-depth indicators (such as some retreaded or vintage tyres), across at least three-quarters of the tread width.

Yeeah ok its screwd then so last wof would of been its last run now time for a new one and a wheel alignment.Should i start taking it to vtnz!

intrade, Mar 12, 2:07pm
jet take it for a wof
Vehicle inspectors may disregard the outer end of a lateral groove where it normally tapers off over the shoulder. Note that the tread is only that part of the tyre that is in contact with the ground.
they seem to have chenged the rules but that still aply its why my tyres probably passed .

Its due for a wof 23 this month its gunna be an expensive one but afterwards. It will be safer and nicer to drive it does pull to the left but not noticeable much.

intrade, Mar 12, 2:14pm
you can go for a wof up to 14 day befor and ask them to add the 14 day on to the 6 month wof , you just would have to make sure they do that and not cut you the 14 day short

meathead_timaru, Mar 12, 2:14pm
Looks like it's almost to the belting in that first photo but that might just be shading. But it's legal as long as it's not actually exposed.

Judging from the tread depth indicators it might actually be WoFable - need to measure the depth on that inner principle groove though.

intrade, Mar 12, 2:16pm
i would swap tyres if rear ones are ok and get a alignment with them tyre then take it for a wof. if the outer groove is 1.5 still where the thread indicators are then its a pass must be all round do they mesured my one on every spot befor they passed em with a warning.

edangus, Mar 12, 2:23pm
This, but take for an alignment first. Its worth a crack Nigel.

inkapuka, Mar 12, 3:58pm
So swap a good rear one for the front buggerd one then get wheel alignment !
