If it is standard, with no stupid modifications it is worth good coin.

If it has stupid modifications it is worth 5/8ths of sweet fanny adams.

no its standard belonged to my wifes dad has had no mods done has been garaged for last 4 years everything is original but hasnt been started either but still turns over

Plenty. At least $5000, maybe more depending on how tidy and kms traveled.

Really thank you so much for that I had no idea that will be our ticket to Australia once again thank you

Standard ones are now non existant and command good prices. Modified examples sit unsold for months on end.

thurzday can you let me know more details! What colour, how many kms! factory wheels, suspension, exhaust etc! Interior and exterior in good condition!

Being an '88 it will be the early model with 205 hp and the smaller brakes and it wont have the climate control air con either. If it is an RS model (ie wind up windows, no electric mirrors, no interior fuel filler release etc) then it will be worth more - especially if it is untouched.

Depending on condition and kms travelled it could be worth anywhere from $4000-8000ish. I have a '91 VR-4 which is just about completely stock standard right down to the original air filter housing and exhaust travelled about 200,000kms - mine is the later 'Evolution' model which has extra power (240 hp) among other changes which I hope to be worth in the $7000-10000 region, perhaps more in years to come!

If it hasnt been started for 4 years, has the rego been kept live or is it dead!

phillip.weston, Mar 5, 6:46pm
Good point. There's a shed stored '91 Evolution VR-4 in Ohakune which had been parked up for a while and the owner lost the keys and let the rego lapse. It just had a new paint job and an engine overhaul not long before hand. you gotta wonder why people do that! I am hoping to go have a nosey once I am back in NZ in a couple weeks. that is if the seller responds to me! They haven't listed a number and it's a classified only.

old flattie had an 88/89 Evo VR4 in unmolested condition quite a few years back n he paid 6.5 grand. must say it was a real sleeper. cops never bat an eyelid.

phillip.weston, Mar 6, 12:35pm
Wont be an Evo VR-4 if it were an 88 or 89. Evo VR-4s were mid-1990 onwards and distinguishable by the vented bonnet, extra grilles in the bottom of the front bumper and addition of a larger turbo & intercooler + 510cc yellow top injectors. Diff ratios changed to match the RS 3.909 close ratio boxes they were fitted with.

to answer your guys questions it has been shed stored for last 5 years we were using it up until then but our family got a little to big so we had to move up to a van then a people mover car is definitely on hold it as standard suspension electric windows and mirror, latch inside car for filler cap also on side of car it has 1988 japanese car of the year also has standard factory wheels inside and out is very tidy unsure of ks cant look as it is covered with quite alot of blankets hope this helps

phillip.weston, Mar 7, 12:20pm
Yep the '88 models were badged with the '88 Car Of The Year badges on the front guards. If it's tidy and running and reasonable kms I would say $6,000-8,000! Do get some pictures ASAP too.
