Multiple serious injuries, Might be a while until the driver buys that Lotto Ticket.
I hate driving that road, too many drivers use it as an up hill race track.

Juicy cheapo rental car! Another case of tourists forgetting which side to drive on!

"Six people injured in the car splitting crash in Tauriko late yesterday afternoon have all been discharged from Tauranga Hospital today"

".A Tauranga Hospital spokesperson says both drivers - a 50-year-old woman and a 48-year-old woman - and four passengers in the grey van; two 13-year-old girls, a 12-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy were treated by the hospital."

Can't be life-threatening if she's been discharged already.

The front seat area of the Nissan is relatively undamaged. Pure luck.

People mover - 1
Nissan sunny - 0

Actually to add something the crumpling, ripping and tearing that shread that little Nissan to pieces absorbed a lot of energy over a decent time span. It was just luck that the back of the car absorbed it and not 2 feet further forward.

Seems like many from overseas are having the same problem of thinking

"How hard could it be driving in NZ"

I wish they reported what make and model the people mover was.

Its a big ol Nissan largo or similar by the looks of it. AND it looks to me that it was the HOW of the accident that decided the damage.

Toyota Granvia type thing, bottom pic in the first link

That's a very lucky escape for everyone involved

theram1, Mar 7, 8:16am
Can Multiple serious injuries really be considered a lucky escape!.

doug207, Mar 7, 8:35am
It's all relative innit! It would be much nicer not to crash in the first place.
But not being dead after being in an accident that rips a POS Jap car in half!
