Sluggish and jerky when accelerating?

poohbearfan3, Mar 4, 7:18am
I recently (three weeks ago) purchased a 2010 suzuki swift and the last week or so it's seemed really sluggish and also a bit jerky when accelerating, it sort of feels like it's dragging.I also have a ramp in my work car park which is steep, but not overly steep, and twice now the car has struggled to get up the ramp.
Any ideas as to what may be wrong with it!
I'm thinking of taking it back but (a) I have no idea what is wrong and am worried they'll fob me off and (b) I feel like I'm being a pain in the rear.

oh and it's an automatic if that makes any difference. It was supposedly serviced before I took it, but it wasn't, so it's already been back once for that.

Sounds like it's just misfiring - that explains the lack of power with bursts of power.

You need to stop being so meek. Contact the dealer and tell them of the problem and when you'll be dropping it in for them to rectify.

ok what i found is euro 5 engines can hisitate to take off like our dacia sandero is manual but i stalled it a few times till i got used to it, its only lika a quater of a secound befor the engine starts getting the revs up from idle when you want to take off and i think its due to it programmed to always make euro 5 emissions , Driving it like a nana could make that symptom worse ,i never drove like a nana and after getting used to not let the clutch fully out instantly to take off it was fine , feals like a wee jerke when you try and take off fast , and these cars are not made to drive fast they are shopping trollies to get from a to b with economy. Your car should be doing about 6 liter per 100kmlike the dacia was 5.8 liter when i drove it and when i gave it plenty on the german highway it used 6.2 top speed i managed was 150kph but i eased it back to 140 as it was reving rather near the limmiter at 150+ lol.

i dont know if you get my above post but you should drive a bit harder usually helps when you do as you should floor it on onramps of the motorway to get it up to speed to merge with the trafficinstead of crawling slowely to 100kph or 80 etc. if it comes right then it was what i suspected citroen are even worse they learn the drivers preference and then when you need to accellarate hard nothing happens for almost 2 secounds.

Take it back to where you brought it from tell them what its doing get them to fix it

poohbearfan3, Mar 4, 9:35am
So if it's misfiring, what do they do to fix it!The thing is it's not doing it all the time, and I only really notice it when I'm out and about in the suburbs.
As the poster mentioned above, there is no issue when it's on the motorway and I'm flooring it, it runs like a dream then, just feels jerky at other times and yes, like it's slow to take off with a dragging feel.

They trace the misfire and resolve it. It's likely to be a plug lead insulation breaking down when hot.

new leads should be fitted could also be the coil faulty it should register missfire in the obd2 log of the computer .

Thanks, I'll give them a call.Here's hoping they don't take a look and tell me it's nothing.But I'm sure it's something because I've driven a friend's and her doesn't feel like mine.
Thanks again.

It's just a matter of insisting it be resolved and not allowing them to fob you off. You're a grown up. You can do it.
