Do people really think

keeping the reserve on a vehicle 'secret' will help sell the car! All it does for me when looking is just pisses me off and I end up looking elsewhere. Ask what the reserve is and get answers like 'you'll have to bid and find out'. Just a waste of time because if it's over what I'm prepared to spend, I'm gone anyway. I don't really get it.

People get attached to their cars and as a result over value them.

Yep, fair comment, but why not just make the start price the same as reserve! Much less fannying about.

I have noticed that cars are going UP in values,I paid 6k for my current car in 2008 & it's got market value of 3k yet it is a old 98 with 200K on clock.

I would never hind the RES price if selling the car,but I am now looking at buying a project car (mini or EB civic) as a fun car to have once all done.

You can bid up in 10% increments untill you get to 'within 15 percent of the reserve price'.
-Just make sure you go back to the auction page after each bid, to make sure your next bid wont put the red flag up; ie. make sure you're not already within 15% before you bid again :)

And yes, people are pretty stupid if they think they can trick you with some fancy hidden reserve tricks. lol.

Yep. If they won't reveal the reserve, I simply divide the last bid that isn't within the 15% by 0.86 and bid that amount until I hit the "within 15%" then leave the auction and never come back.

That's the story, if they wanna dick people around because they think they are clever, out clever them and dick them back.

And look at the auction 30 times a day to whack their view # up as well and put em on your watch list so they think they have some sniffers as well lol

Ha ha, Nice. I'm off to find some hidden reserve auctions and practice.

When I bought my BC5 it was one of those hidden reserve auctions. I was pleasantly surprised that the reserve was only about $1500 above the start price.
