Could be inlet manifold gaskets.the ecotec V6 (VS-VY) is not as prone to leaking manifold gaskets as the earlier V6's (VN-VR) but still known to do it.

If its been using coolant you would have to suspect manifold gaskets, a brief rough idle after startup is what they do when they leak. Otherwise yes check and replace plugs and leads if no good, bad connections under the coils can occur too.I've also seen VT VX Commies with blocked injectors caused by bad corrosion of the fuel rail, it'd also be wise to pull the fuel filter off and see how restricted it is, if you can't blow through it easily in the normal direction of flow it needs replacing. Although with most of these issues there will be other problems apart from hard starting.

if its purly a start (turn over) thing - lots of commodores had the main supply to the starter motor come loose and it begines to burn. check that if it makes sense

Yes it has been using a wee bit of liquid in the radiator and its quite black and sh1t looking above the rocker cover. I think thats what it is called looks like it's leaking oil around there and its burning a wee bit of oil it only got serviced a few thousand kms ago

Probably a sensor, vacum hose, plugs or points. I don't know if Holdens have Control valves but that could be something too!
