Dont go thinking I value your opinion. I have people asking me for it all the time. As far as a future classic goes if we knew about them now ,we would all save one .

Its remarkable that there are any left to save, the speed those 1970's and 80's Hondas rusted and the general body construction was appalling, they were even worse than british or aussie cars of the time, as was that silly auto gearbox. They were made out of recycled salmon tins that hadn't had the salt water washed off them properly. That model wasn't much of an improvement over the original civic, a bit more room and a five speed trans was about it.

There is a common misconception that small cars from the eighties are still a good cheap, reliable option today due to their simplicity. You should take advantage of this to get rid of the Civic at a good price.

Not forgetting the good points about themoldHondas then either! They could be quicker than the older v8s 0-50kms/hr off the mark at that time . ! The direct drive to the front wheels unlike the conventional rear wheel drives havea degree of lapse of directdrive through the long drive shaft through the back diff and axles and finally to the wheels.Honda created balance in the trans /axlefront drive system where there wereunequel length1/2 shafts / whereother front drives pulled slightly under power to the right or left !I remember a few nasty crashesback then the steeringpull under power & inattention causingcars crossing the centre line or hitting bridgebuttments .Honda may have been first with the cooling system bleeder nipple idea too .The hondamatic was a slick auto back then too.considering what else ! was around on offer at that time. I had workedas a technician for a Honda franchise back then too .

I really wish I'd kept my first car. Paid $500 from Auto Auctioneers in 2000 and they're rare as can be over here. I saw it once 3 years after I sold it, covered in dents :(

Just look at it! 1600 crossflow power!
