how big, can you get inside or will it have to be a spray fix
plenty of good detergents around will take care of diesel, you have to be thorough and rinse well, wash and rinse 3 times type effort
for detergents you don't need anything too flash, hell even car wash ( not wash and wax) non streaky is good, hot water with it is good, lots of suds, lots of agitation, cover all areas several times

Yep HOT water & LOTS of suds & LOTS of rinsing It's the bubbles that carry the grime away. Not hard work but lots of water. Do a super strong detergent mix 1st time in cold water, then hot water & detergent for 2nd wash, several cold rinses & if it's smelling clean then finish of with a hot rinse.

gotta consider, every milk vat in the country is washed every day ( sometimes every second if the tanker hasn't been) they was with a cold rinse followed by a hot acid wash, recycled til temp is under 60, then cold rinse again and once per week they 'bomb' it with a chlorine and caustic mix in place of the acid either will do the job, both would be better, chlorine and caustic the better choice if only one is available, you can get these from any farm good store, chlorine on its own from the warehouse or mega store at 40%- and grab a bottle of draino to toss in with it - keep your nose out, the fumes will knock ya round a bit
