I don't feel sorry for them. They never changed their business model that harked back to the days of an extremely regiments marketplace, before the internet. "6-8 weeks ex Japan" and still you had to chase them constantly. Sorry, that's unacceptable in this day and age. Being successful in business isn't about expecting the local representatives to keep abreast of the changing market and just doing your 8 hours and going home. You must constantly be looking for ways to improve the delivery of your products and services. Nobody is owed a living and if the representatives aren't delivering what the public expects, the writing is on the wall.

Bob was a great guy.
Im sorry for him to see his business close,
When I was a kid 25 years ago on my RD400, He put a new rear tire on it and told me to take it easy for the first 100klm.
I immediatley lost the back end and dumped it at the bottom of parnell rise.
Ha, Bob you told me, and we laughed about later
Bought many Ducatis from Bob and he treated me well.

Yep, Bob H was a good guy. His wife was often behind the counter in the Manakau Rd shop. Bought all my tires off him, until I left AKL. Since I've been back home it seems most motorcycle shops are staffed by wankers, then again there were a few back in the day too. Restoring a Katana 11 at present, spent a couple of grand so far on parts direct from Japan, because I don't owe anyone at Colemans Suzuki a living and I won't pay double for genuine parts. I've bought 1 litre fork oil off them and I can't see that I'd need anything else from them. The world's changed, and business models must adapt or die. I agree with a previous poster who said the advantage they have is face to face service. Its a pity so many of them make you feel about as welcome as a pedo in a kindy
