Xf stud pattern

chuckyme, Feb 22, 2:40pm
Hi what is the stud pattern for xf falcon the wheels that came off itmeasures 108 is this right!

bellky, Feb 22, 2:48pm
5x114.3 measured diagonally across (missing one stud).

chuckyme, Feb 22, 3:28pm
yeah that is what i did and got 5x108

lookoutas, Feb 22, 3:42pm
It's just the normal 5 stud pattern like bellky sez. - center to center.

I noticed that a CLI Taurusis 108

fordcrzy, Feb 22, 4:46pm
5x114.3 standard ford toyota 5 stud

jaydeesnr, Feb 22, 5:54pm
you cant measure pitch circle diameter on a 5 stud, and missing one stud would not be 114.3 if that was the PCD.

chuckyme, Feb 22, 5:56pm
Well still don't know my mags measure 5x108 is this just old falcons! 1987 xf have a set of mags that are 114.3 but they didn't fit the falcon

jaydeesnr, Feb 22, 6:31pm
Falcons are5 x 114.3 which is 4.5 inch pcd. Using belky's method will not give you that distance. From memory if you measurecenter to center of two studs [next to each other]it should be 67 mm

jason18, Feb 22, 6:33pm
My XA is 114.3.

brokebloke1, Feb 22, 6:51pm
isnt that 5x108 the old pre HQ / holden torana stud pattern!

unbeatabull, Feb 22, 6:59pm
Yes. Sure Chrysler/Valiant was something funny like that to or may have been 5x110.

jaydeesnr, Feb 22, 7:04pm
Yes 4.25 inch,then 4.75 inch HQ etc then commodore 4.724inch [120mm]

trader_84, Feb 22, 7:13pm
Yep, they were 4.25" PCD. Then around the VH they went to 4.5" - the same as the Ford.

trader_84, Feb 22, 7:17pm
This is how you measure a 5 stud PCD . but you do it from the center of one stud to the outside of the other stud. The outside furtherest away if you can understand what I'm saying.

CM trailer equiptment have a couple of really good sheets on their website on measuring PCDs and applications. Print them off and hang them on the wall.

bellky, Feb 23, 8:29am
^ Yep thanks for link here it is:

Thanks for that^ :)

And thanks trader_84 that works too.

That only works for 7/16" threads or studs though.

Just do the very simple intermediate school level maths.
5 studs means 360/5° angle from the centre of the stud pattern between studs, so 72° and that is an isosceles triangle, which is two back-to-back mirror image right angle triangles, yes!

So if the centres of two adjacent studs is 67mm, then the opposite side is 67/2mm and the angle is 72/2°.
So the radius of the pitch circle is (Sin 36° = 33.5mm / H). solve for H.
H = 33.5mm / Sin 36° = 57mmSo the PCD is (2 x57mm) = 114mm PCD.

Or do it between the centres of the two studs furthest apart for greater accuracy, which will measure about 109mm and the angle becomes 144°. The calculation then becomes (Sin 72° = 54.5mm / H) which transposes to
H = 54.5mm / Sin 72° = 57.3mm so PCD is (2 x 57.3mm) = 114.6mm.

You can also use the Sine rule. (109mm / Sin 144°) = (H / (Sin ((180° - 144°) /2)
H = (109mm x Sin 18° / Sin 144°) = 57.3mm. so PCD = (2 x 57.3mm) = 114.6mm

Now I know why I didn't know all that.
The teacher must have used the same sized font on the blackboard, and i couldn't have possibly read it from the back of the classroom!

We were wrong bellky - i just measured mine, They are 67mm stud center to stud center, as mentioned somewhere above . And i didn't get too accurate with a ruler spanning the center cap, but it looked somewhere around 108/9 by missing one stud.

franc123, Feb 24, 12:45pm
Or you could look up the Trojan website that lists all the common PCD's and how these correspond to distances between adjacent studs in 5 stud applications, makes you look far less of a mathematical ponce then.

jmma, Feb 24, 12:54pm
You forgot the square root(o:

meathead_timaru, Feb 24, 7:46pm
I'm not going anywhere near Jacinda Adern much less giving her a root. Haven't you seen those teeth!
