564393268.59HP 155kg, I use to rub fairings with guys on rgv250's back in the early 90's, on these bikes, definitely not slow. Yes they are officially on the LAMS list.

Jap domestic model -45hp!

Interesting. On the LAMS list there is no distinction between any of the sub models - seems to be a blanket approval for FZR400. If so, bit of a cock up.

Who cares. At least whoever does ride the rgv will enjoy themselves. I rode a 75 bhp NSR250 MC21 on my learner licence and an Aprilia Rs250.

I'm pretty sure all FZRs are L legal, perhaps due to the hopeless list and the first of them being heavy! The 3TJ with an FZR600 motor would do the trick
The one that really makes me giggle is the RVF400, that's just silly! They're a seriously capable bike and will leave the standard now-illegal 2T NSR/RGV etc behind.

.standard the RVF is slower, heavier and makes less hp then the rgv.i think the RVF was even slower than the VFR it replaced.

No. It was on paper though. Having done back to back rides on the RGV, Viffer and Riffer I can say the Riffer is faster int he real world. Not a heap of difference to the VFR, but much better in the tight stuff because the VFR has a retarded long 1st

Remember LAMS has got nothing to do with handling, braking, gearing, or anything like that, it's solely power to weight (including 90kg for rider and gear).
Gearing and suspension can certainly make a bike with lower power to weight accelerate faster than a more powerful bike.

^ Correct ^ theRVF 400 is 53hp 165kg (dry).I have a 1990 Fzr 400 (3tj)and in the process of fitting a yzf 600 thundercat engine, should be a hoot, I took the thundercat out on a trackday a few months back and it was surprisingly fast I could keep in touch with alot of later model bikes, not bad for a $900 bike and $40 worth of used race tyres.

No. alot of the 400's after around '94 were reduced to 53 hp, like zzr400, xjr400, rvf400 etc,The FZR's are definitely 59hp I use to race one, and there would be at least 6 fzr's on the grid along with zxr's, cbr's, vfr's etc.95% of 400 road bikes are japanese domestic

No it's not. Have seen standard ones do more than 53hp at the wheel. The Honda figures are. very conservative. They're more like low 60s at the crank.
Good on you with the engine swap, I love the 3tj with a 600 crammed in it. I'll be doing a ZXR400 with a ZZR600 motor soon (already had the motor in a ZZR400, but they're tanks)

So can cheeky power figures

I can assure you the '94 RVF are only around 53hp, they have smaller carbs and are slow compared to VFR/CBR/FZR/ZXR 400's, I have ridden all of the 400's and my pick of them all is the '91 cbr400 gullarm as these handle the best imo. I picked the 3TJ as a 600 engine will fit very easily.
