We have all been in this situation - going into a corner and your going too fast
What do you do to stay safe! Anyone got any tips. Brake! No brake! lean into the corner and throttle! drop throttle and lean!

By the time you get into the corner it's too late - your best to just lean hard, counter steer, look through the corner and pray to god you make it. During Mid turn, unless you are skilful, the brakes generally will make you bin it.
Best measure is to slow down before the corner and know your and your bike's limits.

God its a scary feeling. Anyone who has been in this situation knows about that "oh sh*t" moment that occurs when you realize you may well be eating gravel or worse

But seriously there are ways to help yourself out but each situataion is different (you would hope) so each one may need a differing approach to the problem but unless you have the reactions of GP rider its proabably all over rover. Just hope ya cell phone dosn't get broken and someone isn't recording it and it ends up on YouTube. And of course you wern't wearing ya jandels that day.

Push the inside handlebar gently away from you and continue or increase acceleration. It is countersteering. Try it the next time you ride, even on a straight road.

Get your eyes tested is a good place to start. Most bikes can out perform their rider.
You will see that at the springs next W/E.They don't have any problems with it,and they don't have brakes.

Get brave and push on that bar to increase the lean.Look where you want to go.These two things are more important than any braking or throttle, if you look at the obstacle, you'll hit it (target fixation), and if you don't lean, you're not going around the corner.
For the average rider, the bike will have more grip and can give more lean than you give it credit for, and by that time, you've nothing to lose anyway.
A low side slide from leaning too far is far preferable to slamming into a wall or high siding over the top of it.

True that, with a bit of practice you can use a wee bit of back brakes mid-lean though

Brake before the corner and accelerate through it. You can apply a bit of rear brake at the same time as accelerating, but for road riding you shouldn't have to.

I have tapped the brakes about 25% into the turn which has enabled me to increase lean angle untill mid turn then I power out. In the wet though I would never tap the brakes into a turn but always enter at the recomended speed limit or lower anyway.
learning to push the front to scrub off speed is far easier to learn on a dirtbike

I had a whole screed of advice for you about brakes,about road positioning about rider training ,leaning etc and deleted the whole lot. What I would do is brake to scrub off as much speed as I can then I'd tip into the corner looking NOT for that "inevitable" slide in the gravel but to where I want to go. Most road riders genuinely don't know just how far they can crank a bike over. Its a truck load further than you would ever believe

When that happened to me, I straightened the bike up, slowed down as much as I could , made it to the grass (so less damage when I and the bike came off) and as I was sliding towards the white road marker (wood back then) I wondered how well they are placed in the ground. (not much thankfully). I still have the white mark on the jacket to remind me to be more careful.

Go faster and faster around the corner until you fall off, then go a little bit slower than that.
