A Bean means money, money to promote and suport up and comming N.Z riders to train and tour over seas to get more world champs like Mauger and Briggs, as a past rider i see how hard it was to get revenue, we even had to pay to get in on race days and then go out on the track and risk our lives! ,you would think the government would help out after Ivan and Barry collected i think from memory 9 world titles!, what other N.Z motor sports can boast that! I think Ivan would be Happier to see more N.Z world champs than a couple of nuggets around his neck!

Hell I remember watching him race in England back in the day in Manchester, top of his game then and very much respected. Dam I never knew he was a Kiwi (lifts up his shell and crawls away lmao) but a trust architect to the speedway arena.

Ivan Mauger no doubt about it a living legend indeed and i also think Barry butterworth is also worthy of a Mention here i remember a time when a big group of us mostly speedway fans witnessed him backing his big kenworth and trailer unit down a long narrow lane used for construction purposes on queen st. With only about 2 inches to spare on each side he gunned it back about 40 mitres like he was still on the racing track.i have great memories of both and speedway in general.
