Hi all, ive been thinking about converting my 1980s mini engine to a toyota 4efte, for power, reliability and something to do as a bit of a project. Ive been thinking about this for the last few years and just really motivated to do it now. is there anyone in NZ that has done one before and can offer advice one the conversion and modifying the subframe to fit and other bits and pieces that come along with it. Cheers

The B series swap is far more common in nz and far better IMO ,

Thats a big job.Shane Mendozer in Upper Hutt put a 1.6 Honda and manual in one, lots of engineering tho but he's a wizz kid at most things
You could sink some coin and just buy a ready made subframe from the UK.Would cost about 3k for the subframe i think it was last time i had the same idea. That cost alone put me off due to resale value but that said mines been in the shed unused ever since it was repainted almost 10years ago so i dont think itl be going anywhere for a while yet

I do know of one other (I thought it was you!), contact the Napier club as I mentioned above and you can get in touch with them.
Edit: correction, two others. One in a roundy, one in a clubman.

Hi there, thanks for putting me onto this thread smac. Me and a friend of mine are doing 4efte conversions on our mini's. I own a 77 Leyland LS and my mate has a Clubman (Unsure of year at this stage). As i was told by the LVVTA and everyone i have asked, you need to have a solid plan in place before even attempting this. I however chose to ignore them, brought the mini and are still working on the plan at this stage. Happy to chat and give you any advice/info that i can
