hiya, 6 months ago we paid a mechanic to do some work this was to pass a warrant, we have just learnt after taking the car through another warrant that the work was not done properly, what i want to know is can we make the mechanic redo the work that they were paid for and is their some channel we need to go down.

What was the work completed and what is the issue now, what sort of vehicle and what usage does it get!

warrant sheet says poor repairs to under floor strengthening rails that have not returned structure to within a safe tolerance of when manufactured - cracks missed and floor welding also.

this is the exact job we had done last time weve stopped using the mechanic that originally did the job and took the car through a different mechanic, being the underneath of the car its not something you notice just assume has been done properly

the car is of the road and we are selling i have disclosed the rails but thought when i found the warrant sheet today if we paid for a job to be done and it hasnt been done to a standard required can we get the problem rectified

You needed a panelbeater for that, not a mechanic. It seems strange that it passed the last warrant if there was something wrong with the repairs though, has it got worse in the meantime! I'm assuming the problem is with the floor stiffeners under the seats, is there a heavyweight passenger in the picture!

the mechanic that did the repairs also did the warrant, its my husbands work car and hes by no means a big person the complete opposite. i dont think its got worse we dont even know when/how it happened hubby was driving car before it was picked up last warrant car in 6 months prior to warrant had been travelling between ashburton to christchurch and ashburton to dunedin hes had no issues driving it since either.

the reason we took the car to this mechanic is because they were recommended to hubby, having just moved here we took the recommendation, I definitely do not recommend the company not because of this issue but due to an issue with my car.

End of the day it failed a W O F
So ESSENTIALLY IT IS A MANUFACTURERS FAULT

(And there are a few of em- SPECIFIC TO VEHICLE MAKE, MODEL AND Year Of Manufacture)

So enlighten us a tad if ya ken. After all- just HOW can we comment on ya fiat- or ya Ohio-

When ya Nissan Terranno failed on rear seat area rust!

why not just go see the mech! tell him that his repair to xxx has not passed at another wof place and what he can do in the way of fixing it. maybe the new wof place is being anal on the repair.

OP won't be back by the looks of things and I believe she did the right thing by selling it. Any old Jap car with structural problems usually ends up being a money pit.
