Gull 91 seems crap up north

right i normally use caltex with the 6 cent AA card but then i had to go to auckland so i flicked 20 liter gull in so the tank was half full, in auckland i hear it pink every now and then when taking off so i went and filled it up with caltex again and then again with caltex up north. now it stoped pinking , so i figure the crap gull sells must be well below 91 octane as all fuel was 91 and i have had no pinking on it on 91 untill i filled the 20 liter gull. the higher octane is that bio crap that eatsthe rubbers on some petrol cars so i was not going to add that from gull.

I think Gull import their own fuel from their parent company in OZ. They dont use Marsden Point

Gull 93 has an ethanol content which has a lower calorific value, but unsure if their 91 also has it.

Gull is not as good as some people will lead to beleve. For one I know that anybody using Gull diesel in there late model CR diesels will be experrencing early fule filter changes and any running DP Filters will find the vehicle has to go into burn mode alot more often compaired to a Caltex, BP, Shell diesel.

I have 2 V8'S and lately have been having a lot of pre-ignition from Z 96 so now use BP98 and no problem apart from they stopped selling 98 because of low demand in Levin so have to pick it up out of town when I can.My old flathead ran smoother and felt better all round on Gull 91.go figure.
PS; our Gull fuel comes from Singapore and they shoot shoddy suppliers that misrepresent things there.
