Take it to aa or vtnz and pay the $400 odd dollars for re compliance. if your lucky it will pass, if not, you'll need to repair it to standard.

ali117, Mar 25, 10:25am
its standerd .thers no modifications been done to it. its a lil family type car .

a.woodrow, Mar 25, 10:30am
Makes no difference, it still needs to go through a full compliance check. from memory it's about $480, any repairs are additional

ali117, Mar 25, 10:33am
ohh i c .

darryl, Mar 25, 10:37am
And seeing its after 1990 - it requires a much tougher inspection. Door cards off etc etc AFAIK

ali117, Mar 25, 10:43am
door cards! afaik!

darryl, Mar 25, 10:48am
Door cards - door panels on inside

AFAIK - As Far As I Know

It's a much tougher inspection compared to pre 1990 cars.

ali117, Mar 25, 10:52am
ohh ic . cherrs .

sandypheet, Mar 25, 4:10pm
Interior strip to reveal welded seams, seat belt anchors, boot lining and rubbers, inner mudguard liners and splash guard, brake strip and measure, standards check of lights, glazing, tyres and brake friction materials.Door cards not taken off.Usual wof checks carried out.

You bought a car without knowing or researching what it would cost to register! Why would you do this!

Chances are it was deregistered for a reason like something was stuffed that was too expensive for somebody to fix. This ain't gonna go well for you, me thinks.

ali117, Mar 26, 7:48am
thanks for the negitive feed back . he has explaind to me that it had past the warrent .and tht it has passt a compliance.acheak .he now has a company car an the car i won .is jst sittn there . itll pr toobly cost me 700 to get it bak on the road legaly. but for a $500 car .soon to be $1100 car .im not complaining. if he has lied to me .he will soon no about it. cheers daryl

Dont forget that the price for the compliance check is just for the check. It does not include the cost of any repairs that will be required before it can pass.

If it has any hidden accident damage for example, this will all have to be stripped back to bare metal and inspected, then repaired to a certifiable standard if the origional repair was below par.

You are about to open a can of worms that could cost you a fortune.

There is a huge difference between passing a wof check and passing a compliance check.

A wof check is a visual inspection only. A compliance check means the car is pulled to bits and they go over it with a fine toothed comb. It could end up costing thousands to get it on the road.

bjmh, Mar 26, 8:59am
yep a can of worms, you didn't want negative feedback.sorry mate you may as well have brought a car from a wrecking yard, this guy has sold you a p.o.s .that would have been worth wrecking value.caveat emptor.

I just got a old MK2 cortina put back on the road
plates were dead only piece of evidence that it had been on the road before in NZ was a old "carless days " sticker on the window
Cost to put it on the road
$20 for new plates
$45 for WOF
and about $289 for rego as I had to do it for 1 year
it just went thru a std wof check VTNZ

fryan1962, Mar 26, 7:00pm
it has to be re vinned I got a quote $1000.motorbike cost $450

bjmh, Mar 27, 6:00am
dunno how you achieved this,a customer of mine let his 2005 c/dore ute go 13 months without rego,it cost about $900 to re-vin and reregister.Owner had to provide proof of ownership ,plus previous proof of registration.

daryl14, Mar 27, 6:07am
So they've paid all the money for a compliance check but then didn't go through with registering the car, is that right! I wonder why!

Please do come back and tell us how much you spent to get this vehicle on the road. We would be most interested to find out. And best of luck with it all.

NZTools, Mar 27, 6:11am
A mkII cortina isnt subject to continuous licensing. Once a car is 40 years old or older, its just like a trailer. Basicly, just Put a wof on it, then go register it. Regardless of how long it has been off the road.

supernova2, Mar 27, 8:33am
Are you sure!Even a trailer drops off the system after two (I think) years.Or are you saying that if the car is over 40 years old I can just rock up at say VTNZ and get a new registration without any paper trail! If that correct I can see a project or two in the yard.

gmphil, Mar 27, 8:58am
Last one i had done $450for compliance plus $322 6 month rego

bjmh, Mar 27, 9:09am
- Awesome for Farm Vehicle - :o maybe this part of the ad is an apt description.

gadgit3, Mar 27, 9:18am
Haha last vehicle we sent for complince for a customer cost them over $3500. required all new brake rotors and pads. seat belts and suspect chassis repairs.
