nightboss, Mar 26, 5:24pm
And if you miss it - TV3 on demand - Campbell Live Tuesday.

vivac, Mar 26, 5:30pm
Yeah, looks really impressive, a pity its going to be really really expensive to hire.
There have been a few vids on youtube for a few months if you want full M3 hotlap experiences.

rosiejoy, Mar 26, 5:33pm
Wow! Love that the guy has really put a LOT of passion into it - The museum, the go karts, the lake, the bridge, landscaping etc etc. Very cool indeed!

fordcrzy, Mar 26, 5:34pm
love it!. good to see another quality track in nz. we are sadly lacking in motorsport venues

woody1946, Mar 26, 6:06pm
Couldn't be bothered with the M3 lap. It looked like a xbox game with music instead of proper car sound

Well done Tony Quinn!Awesome looking track and great to see a man with passion and a vision.I only hope that red tape, bureaucracy, and motorsports officials looking after their own interests don't stuff it up for you.

morrisman1, Mar 29, 5:03pm
Im going on sunday, looking forwards to it and hope this sunshine stays around.

socram, Mar 29, 5:19pm
Let us get it straight, It was NOT the brainchild of Tony Quinn as reported on TV1 tonight. He bought the place well after the planning and groundwork had already been done.Good on him for buying it, but credit where credit is due.I remember discussing and sighting the plans mid 2011, well before Tony bought it.
Certainly looks fantastic and I am sure he can well afford it, as he already has a heavy involvement with sponsoring motorsport, particularly in Australia, with V8SC & Porsche/GT racing etc.

The driving force (no pun intended) for this project was Grant Aitken. He and one or two partners developed the plans and got resource consents. The facility now has far more than was initially planned.Grant was the director / organiser of the annual Race To The Sky event at the snow farm opposite Cardrona.

Hey morrisman1. Keep an eye out at lunch time for my boss's mitsi starion. Him and another fella from up here were invited down to have a play. The other car is the ex Neil allport Mazda bfmr 323.

likit, Mar 29, 6:40pm
Didn't they say on Campbell Live that tonys son designed the track!

twink19, Mar 29, 7:54pm

scarey65, Mar 29, 8:07pm
And he will,on his terms

rsr72, Mar 29, 9:32pm
Yes. They had worked on it for several years.

socram, Mar 30, 10:43am
HD have had lots of enquiries, local and overseas and offers/options are open until April 17th.

It is much easier when you have a stack of cash behind you as money always talks.Neither Chris Watson nor Tony Roberts were exactly wealthy when they started on the HD project.

socram, Mar 30, 10:45am
All we need now is an increased number of volunteers to be able to keep all the tracks running!

happylad3, Mar 31, 8:56pm
Hahaha yup that's him! Looks like he had a lot of fun then! Got any more pics! Ill send them to him if you do!

morrisman1, Mar 31, 9:08pm

happylad3, Mar 31, 9:27pm

morrisman1, Mar 31, 9:35pm

Those guys need a bloody knighthood.
I hope they do get a huge injection of cash then maybe they can complete their vision

plasticboys, Apr 1, 11:55am
pity he was not more into motorbike racing

tonyw1234, Apr 1, 12:57pm
Awesome track for spectators. You get to see most of the action from one vantage point. You only miss the cars when they go through the forest section . it would be great to run series combining Teretonga and Highlands. Wife wasn't too happy when my wee guys came home with Murph's autograph on their good shirts.

socram, Apr 1, 1:58pm
What is it like for paying spectators wanting to take pics! What is good from the stands isn't always so good for non press photographers trying to take pics without a 1,000mm lens.
