Where do you

Go for your tyres.

I have a car that has no conversion size for the tyres, so the one size does it. They are an odd size 215/55R17, have been quoted $300 plus by Dunlop, not going that high.

Any recommendations would be great. Thanks!

You'll buy a brand new budget tyre 215/55R17 for $100.

A 225 or 235/50 would both be very similar rolling diameter I would of thought

I can't put them on the car as the only size specified on the placard is 215/55/17. There is no conversion size specified. Putting them on will throw the speedo out.

Gotta remember that if I have the wrong tyres fitted then hit a pole, I have no insurance.

0.2% difference in speedo reading between 215/55R17 and 235/50R17.

Im surprised if your Insurance won't allow a different size tyre fitted, as long as they are Warrantable.

Pedantic's can be a real pain in the rear end .
Use the calculater to choose an alternative size then ask the tyre shop to check the current tyres clearance against the suspension & guards etc THEN compare the new size tyres in the same way.

Not many vehicles around that you can't go up a size wider
